It's hard thing to think about, but we must. Preparedness alone demands it.
Remenber, when seconds count, police are minutes away.
That's not a dig on police, it's just a simple reality if 911 response times.
The time it takes for police to respond to an active shooter call and engage the suspect could be anywhere from several minutes in municipal jurisdictions, to a half hour or more in rural county areas. An hour or more in remote rural locations.
The decisions you make in those first crucial seconds matter and sets the stage for the minutes to follow.
This video takes you through what to do in those first minutes, or until police resources arrive and engage.
If you are able to carry a firearm lawfully, it's recommended that you do so. The odds are miniscule, but you could someday be the person who finds themselves at the wrong place, at the wrong time, who can quickly put an end to an active shooter's violent rampage and save lives. Including your own.
Numerous studies have shown that the number one thing the criminal mind intent on harming others is concerned about, is whether or not someone could be carrying concealed. Only force stops force and they know that too. Target locations are usually chosen for that reason.
Bad guys choose 'gun free zones', whether by law or by societal practice, for that reason. They don't want force stopping them while they use force to harm others.
