He w... View MoreI’ll try not to bore you with starting with my beginning as a Naturalized Citizen of this Great Country 50 years ago. I was born in Malta. My father signed up for Immigration to the US at age 18. He was contacted 20+ years later for his life long dream. He was by then married and 11 children. (Our family joke was always NO TV’s in Malta). God gave him the strength & courage to come to America. TO GIVE HIS KIDS A CHANCE IN LIFE. He brought the oldest 6 children with him to get settled before Mom and us younger five can come. Once off the ship in N Y, and with God’s Blessing, a good man managed to understand my dad’s request for work, suggested Detroit was the best at the time. He even took them to train station. Once in Detroit he got a job in production at Ford Motor Co. , three of five of the kids worked as seamstresses for a clothier and the youngest 3 went to school & worked part time. After 3 years, saved enough to bring our whole family together. The youngest 6 attended a Catholic school & 4 of them paid off the tuition by jobs before & after school for the Parish properties. Housekeeping for the girls, snow removal and grounds maintenance for the boys. AS the oldest ones started marrying, the income responsibility was passed down. We ALL worked our way. Never went on Government Assistance But Goodfellow gifts at Christmas were the happiest & most appreciated time of our lives. ONE brother joined the army. Dad worked beyond retirement to put me through college, the only one of eleven to attend. Each and everyone one of us have been Blessed with comfortable Middle Class lives with families of our own and raised our children, and now they’re raising theirs, on the same principles of GOD, FAMILY & COUNTRY. I take my Right to Vote ALSO as a responsibility to study to make good choices. Not just the President BUT anyone I vote for. I get kidded about reading at least five court cases and decisions before I vote for Judges. I call & request an answer to 3-4 policies of my last two choices of Governors, Senators, Representatives & School Boards, County Seats, etc. With proper legal immigration, those of us that been there, I, and many others, would be willing to sponsor guidance and welcome new people to our Blessed Republic. That’s what my dad told me when he pointed out Lady Liberty entering the port in NY, saying you can be whatever you want in America, but it’s up to you to work to reach it. All I pray for now is that my grandchildren & beyond, to be Blessed with the life God & a Country many gave their life to protect, to pass on to me. It is now our obligation to pass it forward. God Bless the USA 🙏
