Hey WalkAway!
A team of local Sacramento advocates found out our libraries were hosting Harm Reduction Services for May. If you don't know what Harm Reduction is, they began by offering clean needles so addicts wouldn't get AIDS. Now they give out needles, foil, glass pipes, etc. And they are offering in spaces where CHILDREN are. Children should never be exposed to the narrative that there is a 'safe way' to inject poison. Several in our group spoke out and got the program pulled from the library for now, but we are watching. What's happening in your community? Are you seeing this there? Grassroots advocacy works.
A new needle exchange pilot program at the Sacramento Public Library is drawing backlash from some neighbors who say they are concerned about the safety of families and children.
